A Movement Exploration: Release, Relax, Reorganize

Start your day with this simple movement exploration to release, relax and reorganize your body. You’ll need a place to sit to do this movement along with me. You can do it any time anywhere to help yourself feel both more relaxed and energized.  My current favorite, it is an easy, quick, feel-better exercise. Hope you enjoy it.

Move with Ease and Comfort

Many of us learned the “no pain, no gain” ethic of working out. When looking for more flexibility, more strength, more range we need to feel the burn to know it’s happening.

What if you could stay in your comfort zone, do movements with ease, and have remarkable results? Would you feel uncomfortable not feeling that familiar stretching past your limits?

Our bodies move toward ease. When your body feels a movement pathway that is more efficient and comfortable it recognizes that new movement pattern and moves toward the path of least resistance and more efficiency.

Listen to the Body’s Sensations

Bringing your attention to your sensations during both movement and rest can make a big difference. W For quick and lasting results listening within the body rather than thinking about the body is the key.

In this simple exercise of letting your fingers and hand be curious and explore the length of your leg the movement creates changes in the torso, shoulders, neck and head. It gives your body the opportunity to release and reorganize to a more efficient pattern.  Keep your attention on your hand and on staying within what feels comfortable. As soon as you go into the “I have to stretch farther than feels comfortable to get any benefit” mode your muscles respond by tightening up. Keeping within what feels easy and focusing on sensations in the hand gives you a full body change toward efficiency and ease.

Rest and Reorganize

Resting when you feel the least bit fatigued and resting between movements both give the nervous system time to recognize and remember changes. Moving slowly, easily and resting achieve the most results. Take time to recognize the changes in how you are sitting, in your feet, hips, shoulders, and neck.
